Born in Australia in 1977, Nicholas McRoberts began his musical studies at the age of five. He studied piano, composition and conducting at the Melbourne Conservatory, the Victorian College of Arts, the CNSM in Paris and the Ecole Normale. Since 1999, he has studied regularly with Maestro Jorma Panula and Maestro Dejan Savić. Today he lives in Paris. He regularly conducts in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria both the repertoire of classical opera (Mozart, Verdi, Puccini) as well as more contemporary works (Weil, Hindemith) and the symphonic repertoire (Debussy, Prokofiev). In 2018 he founded Opéra Montmartre in Paris – a popular and community-based opera initiative aimed at making opera accessible to all by renewing the approach. Also a composer, his first opera “Lyon” was premiered at the Ruse State Opera in Bulgaria in July 2016. His second opera “Nera” on a libretto by Vida Ognjenović was conceived for the National Theater in Belgrade.
